Me and my friends (Joan, Kevin, and Denver), visited our good friend Lyn who is currently working in Malaysia. We planned our trip ahead of time because we have very conflict schedules. We booked our tickets two months before our desired date.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much about the country not until the beauty unfolded before my eyes when we arrived. Malaysia is such a beautiful country with a rich cultural heritage that shows Asian and European influence. That first thing that I noticed when we were in the car going to our friend's condominium was their wide road system. Unlike here in the Philippines, they have less traffic even though they have lots of cars too.

In this Photoblog, I will show you the amazing places we visited during our stay in Malaysia.

The Petronas Twin Towers

In a country with a rich and beautiful natural landscape, Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Twin Towers stand out as an unusual example of Malaysia’s urban design excellence. We were really captivated by the beauty of this amazing twins. Again, I thought it was just an ordinary building but no! It's extra!

Central Market

Kuala Lumpur’s Central Market is a bustling, colorful market packed with stalls. The stalls are grouped in lanes based on the main ethnic races in Malaysia (Malay, Chinese and Indian). They sell souvenirs, a myriad handmade crafts, from clothes to wooden carvings and jewelry to batik fabrics; all alongside plenty of street food options. We bought some of the souvenirs like ref magnets and t-shirts here. We also got the chance to taste their famous Puto Bambu which is so delicious.

Batu Caves

A limestone outcrop located just north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves has three main caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines. Its main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance, besides a steep 272 climb up its steps to finally view the stunning skyline of the city center. Unfortunately, we weren't able to climb the said stairs because we were wearing shorts. It's a holy place so they are requiring the tourist to at least wear jeans.

Merdeka Square

Merdeka Square is a historical site where Malaysia declared its independence. Very timely, we visited Malaysia during their Hari Merdeka (National Day) so we were able to feel their culture and patriotism even deeper. Within the colonial core of Kuala Lumpur, where the remnants of the British empire are especially evident (as you can see in the photos), Merdeka Square seems to be nothing more than a giant field with perfectly manicured green lawns and a centrepiece of the tallest flagpole in the world.

Mydin Subang Jaya

Wait, this is serious! Mydin is a wholesale hypermarket and the world's leading distributor of competitive "Halal" goods and services. Why this place is amazing? Dang! They offer very affordable chocolates, noodles, coffee, and basically everything you can find in a hypermarket. This is where we bought most of our pasalubongs haha. My friend even said that Mydin was his favorite place in Malaysia and of course, that was a joke! But jokes are half meant right? Hahaha.

All in all, we really enjoyed our visit in Malaysia and we will surely visit again because we know there's so much more we can do and discover in this beautiful country. If you wanna watch my travel vlog about this Truly Asia trip, you may watch the said video here:
